Our Partnership with the Minnesota Department of Corrections

Since 2014, Financial Education of Minnesota has held a contract with the Minnesota Department of Corrections to facilitate group learning sessions based around our curriculum, “The Pay, Save, Spend Rule.”

These sessions offer a high-level overview and entry point for core principles of money management and financial proficiency, including the importance of saving money, the rules of borrowing, warning signs of debt, credit and debt traps to avoid, and information regarding credit reports.

The goal is to provide life-changing financial education to inmates transitioning out of the system and back into community life.

As a result of these sessions, our clients’ overall knowledge of the subject increased by 46%.

Today, having served thousands of individuals, FEMN is now working to expand our curriculum, programs, and partnerships to better serve the needs of individuals and families across Minnesota.
